Rooted in photography and the
exploration of light, his ethereal style taps into the
Super Natural processes that surround us. He considers
much of his work to be "postcards from the psychic
borderland".
Branching out, he has started to use all types of
image-making, feeding the results back into his studies.
Seeking to fuse paint, digital, sculpture into his
photographic quest has created some startling imagery. “I
have been working over the years to find new ways to
expand just exactly what constitutes as photography. What
is a Photograph?”
He likes to study the history, science and psychology of
art. “Everything has a meaning, I often try and work a
narrative or a series of connected themes into the work.
Much of the recent work is paint, collage, mixed-media
and VJ'ing, visuals triggered on a keyboard via a digital
projector. All these can then be layered or
re-photographed.”
This is the first time in many years that Luke has shown
this work, and much of it has not been seen before. He
also writes for Art & Soul Magazine and runs the
Glass Onion Gallery.
