I have lived in Peterborough for the
past 34 years but was born and educated in Spalding in
Lincolnshire. I am now retired after working for 38 years
in the NHS.
With my new found freedom I have found the time to return
to a former love of painting and drawing. I still feel
that I am very much a novice and I have used the last few
years of my retirement as an opportunity to learn about
drawing and painting and to explore different media and
styles. I enjoy using water colour for landscapes out in
the ‘field' but time restrictions and the English weather
means these trips are limited. My style with water colour
paint lead me to acrylic and oil paint especially the
water soluble oils. In my 'studio' I much prefer to use
these mediums
One of the biggest surprise to me has been my ability to
paint portraits. I also enjoy painting still life with
strong shapes and have had paintings selected to exhibit
at the Peterborough Open Arts and the South Holland Open
Arts exhibitions. I really love abstract painting but I
am still struggling to find and develop a style.
