Kay loves working with colour and their
interactions, which is a never-ending challenge and
curiosity for her. Working in both the mediums of Mosaic
and Textile gives her the latitude for colour play and
exploration.
Recently retired from a full time career Kay has spent
the last few months producing textile pieces for an
Embroiderers Guild Exhibition and also working on glass
mosaic panels and large garden pots. Her latest project
is a mosaic table for her garden.
Kay completed a mosaic course at the Mosaic Art school in
Ravenna (Italy) in 2002, under the direction of Luciana
Notturni. Luciana is one of the few master mosaicists in
the world allowed to restore old masterpieces. Although
based on traditional techniques the course has inspired
her to develop her own pieces using stained glass, smalti
and tile, and has reinforced her confidence in the use of
colour and its interactions.
