I painted from a very early age up
until family commitments limited the time available. Once
I was free to return to painting I started with
landscapes, then onto flowers, loving the colours and
variety of plants and as a natural progression I moved
onto botanical art.
Since taking early retirement I have more time to devote
to my art. I have linked painting with freehand machine
embroidery. Painting scenes onto fabric and using the
sewing machine freehand, to build up the picture using
thread instead of paint. I use the sewing machine,
together with hand embroidery to embellish such items as
wall hangings, bags and quilts. I paint mainly in
watercolour, although I use pastels, acrylics and oils.
Apart from painting, I produce beaded jewellery and many
items come with their own individually handmade fabric
bag making ideal presents. I also produce hand-made cards
(painted, parchment and decoupage). My beaded jewellery
is popular and I receive many commissions.
I regularly exhibit in Peterborough, Stamford, Norfolk
and Lincolnshire.
I am happy to discuss and undertake
Commissions.
