These are paintings you could just lose
yourself in. Inspired by sky, sea and landscape, René
observes her surroundings, absorbs the rich kaleidoscope
of nature and expresses her response in richly textured
and moody paintings. Her latest work, which combines big,
expansive brushstrokes with delicate detailed marks,
stimulates the imagination and demands an emotional
response.
René is inspired by her love of organic form and the
balance of nature and this is reflected in her work. Sky
and landscape are the main inspiration for her current
work; cloud formations which evoke emotion and memories
and the drama of a brewing storm; or a winter sunset.
René has aimed to capture her response to nature through
colour and texture.
Oil and acrylic are her favoured media and are often
mixed with other materials including sand, stone and
reflective objects such as glass and mirror. Some of her
earlier work incorporates newspaper collages reflect our
obsession with current news, so soon forgotten. Those
whose lives are changed forever continue to live the
reality while we move on… these paintings are her tribute
to those who suffer.
