René is inspired by her love of organic form and the balance of nature and this is reflected in her work. Sky and landscape are the main inspiration for her current work. Cloud formations that evoke emotion and memories and the drama of a brewing storm; or a winter sunset. René has aimed to capture her response to nature through colour and shape.

Oil and acrylic are her favoured media and are often mixed with other materials including sand, stone and reflective objects such as glass and mirror. Her paintings are extremely tactile and incorporate heavy impasto brushwork as well as delicate layers of colour and washes.
