I have been an embroiderer ever since I was old enough to hold a needle. My horizons were broadened by a City & Guilds Art and Design module a few years ago. It was here that I first began to experiment with different techniques, mediums and materials to create fabrics and backgrounds 'outside the box' of everyday embroidery. A lot of layering and mixes of fabrics together with machine embroidery create different textures and it is these techniques that I use in the majority of my work. I am now largely self taught through books and workshops. A lot of my work is based on dramatic skies and skylines and some of my inspiration comes from a series of photographs my father took before he died which recently came to light during a spring clean. I very much enjoy doing what I do and hope that others will enjoy looking at my work also. I have also recently had two pieces of art work exhibited at the South Holland Open Arts Exhibition.
