PE1 2QT View my website [<< Back] | I am inspired by both the colour and diversity of form in the natural world and the richness of Eastern textiles and carpets. In my 'Sari' series I seek to capture the vibrance of colour and the intricacies of beaded detail using mixed media on a base of hand made Thai paper in addition to oil on canvas. The individual 'Paperworks' are often created over a long period of time by layering oil paint, paper and other medium onto the paper surface, resulting in a richly textured image. Several of the 'Sari' series will be exhibited at the Edith Cavell Summer Showcase Exhibition 8 July - 31 October 2011.
My 'Garden' series of paintings are purely an enjoyment of the beauty of the flowers around me. I use both oils and watercolour and have been successful in selling some of these paintings in greeting card form through TLM Trading, the Leprosy Mission's fundraising arm. A selection of these paintings are currently on exhibition at Harriets Art Gallery in Peterborough.
